Eye Care Institute was founded in 2007 as school of Optometry. The Institute expanded its curriculum and clinical programme to reflect the changing demands of the contemporary Optometry practice. Expansion and other changes did not limit to the institute itself, thus it also reflected in all levels of eye care professionals and other organization those dealing with optometry. Today the Eye Care Institute conducts different levels of Optician & Optometry programmes to cater the demand of the country.
The Eye Care Institute as a college of Optometry offers three years of Diploma in optometry. Also one year programme on Dispensing Optician who can pursue to diploma in optometry after successfully completed.
Eye Care Institute obtained its registration and accreditation from the Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission(TVEC) as a tertiary education training institute since 2009 bearing Registration number P/01 0488. Eye Care Institute is only QMS 9001:2008 certified institute in Sri Lanka.
